This is how to recover files (undelete) from your computer. I use a cool free program called photorec to recover the data. You can recover movies, photos, mps, text, just about anything. Photorec has versions for window, linux, and mac so it should be similar to how I show you in Ubuntu.

After accidentally formatting my /home partition as a Linux Swap, I was worried I had lost my family photo's and work documents. Not so! Thanks to Photorec as recovery tool that is part of Testdisk.

Free Software provides an interesting contrast to this, with the excellent PhotoRec, part of TestDisk. The Ubuntu community wiki lists several other applications for data recovery, but these aren’t all cross-platform, wheras TestDisk/PhotoRec will build and run on just about anything.
